    • A real gem in Norway, Hotel Union Øye

      Posted at 12:08 pm by mylifemyworldrg, on July 28, 2017

      When traveling around in Norway, you will discover a lot of gems in the most strangest places. Or to be more specific in lovely, small villages.. Last summer we visited Hotel Union Øye situated in Øye by Norangsfjorden. I had heard and read a lot about this charming hotel, and was really looking forward to my first visit. And it is truly a gem, and an experience worth travelling for.

      This charming and beautiful hotel is from 1891 and has only 27 rooms and all rooms are named after royalties and writers that have been staying at the hotel at previous generations. When we arrived all the vacant rooms had their doors open, so we could see and enjoy the different rooms.

      IMAG0554

      The atmosphere in the hotel is so unique, and you are really feeling you are travelling back in time. You can sit down in the lounge and relax and enjoy the views before having dinner at the restaurant.

      IMAG0559IMAG0558

      After dinner, storytelling took place in the lounge. If you weren’t interested in the hotel and the history before the storytelling, you will be after. It was so engaging, and made you fall even more in love in the hotel. And you get so happy that someone was able to save and restore the hotel, and bring back the “glory”, it is truly unique.

      IMAG0557IMAG0556IMG_1062[1887]

      The hotel and its atmosphere is really good, and outside you have this beautiful nature as well. There are waterfalls and the fjord ends only a short walk from the hotel.

    • Christmas at Bellagio and Las Vegas

      Posted at 11:56 am by mylifemyworldrg, on July 25, 2017

      Last Christmas we decided that we wanted to explore something else than the traditional Christmas Holiday, and traveled to Las Vegas and stayed one week at Bellagio.

      The Christmas spirit was filled by the amazing exhibition at the  Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden, and not at least the Fountains of Bellagio gorgeous compositions.

      It can be a bit crowdy during the daytime, but if you are an early bird, you can have some really good moments, both in the conservatory and in the coffee shop and cafés. There are a lot of really good restaurants at the Bellagio, we tried both Lago, Prime, Olives and Jasmine, and truly enjoyed dinners at each. We tried Harvest and Petrossian for a drink – very nice places.

      So you don’t have to leave the hotel to have some good moments. We wanted to try the well-known buffet as well, but we are not used to standing in line for so long time 🙂 We had a buffet at Hotel Paris instead. IMG_20161225_205837_189

      Las Vegas is a fun and exciting city. We stayed for a week, but did not get bored, just wanted to explore more.  And we did not spend time on the Casinos..

      We can’t wait to og back to Las Vegas and explore more. We had one day in the Grand Canyon – that is a must for us when travelling so far. We spent one day bus sightseeing, and had a longer stop downtown of Las Vegas. A completely different atmosphere than on The Strip.

      Both Bellagio and Las Vegas were wonderful, and I recommend strongly everyone to pay a visit there.

      Posted at 2:54 pm by mylifemyworldrg, on July 24, 2017

      Almost two years ago we spent some great days in Miami and in the surrounding areas.

      First we spendt a couple a days at Acqualina Resort and Spa on Sunny Isles Beach. Acqulina Resort & Spa or Leading Hotels of the World

      Very nice resort, and we enjoyed one of the best breakfasts ever!

      We were there in September with ontratsing weather, but still could enjoy some relaxing hours by the pool.

    • My three best moments in Helsinki

      Posted at 7:44 am by mylifemyworldrg, on July 24, 2017

      Here are my three best moments in Helsinki;

      1. Passio – Restaurant with a very high quality of food. It is fine dining with a relaxing atmosphere. We had the 5 courses menu and had some very nice surprises during the meal. The food was really tasty, the waitresses was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. Even the high quality of food, both the atmosphere and the waitresses ware a bit informal, so a perfect combination if you love fine dining food in a more relaxed environment.  They also had their own brewery, and could offer very good beer to the menu.  Here you find the link to their website; Restaurant PASSIO – Enjoy!IMAG0856

      IMAG0859

      2. Shopping – Shopping is not my main activity while I’m travelling…, I am more to get to know the city and relaxing in a Café or Restaurant. But Helsinki was surprisingly nice for shopping. A lot of individual shops with different price ranges, and the exclusive shopping mall of Stockmann.

      We visited Helsinki for three days in the spring, and then there is time to shop as well since there were limited options for sightseeing etc. We stayed at Hotel Kämp, situated perfectly in the city center. Different shops and malls was situated within a short walking distance.

      3. Hotel Kämp – a welcoming and nice hotel, member of the Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel had a vibrant Bar and Brasserie. Since we visited the hotel and city during Vappu, a big celebration in Finland – it somethimes were a bit crowded with a lot of happy people!

      We explored some more in Helsinki too, like;

      Ateljee Bar
      At the Ateljee Bar, the view is a part of the pleasure. This classic, located above other bars on the 14th floor of Solo Sokos Hotel Torni, is the most unique choice for the first glass of the evening. If you want to learn more here’s the link; Hotel Torni Panorama Bar

      IMAG0851

      Helsinki Sightseeing Canal Cruise

      The only sightseeing tours offered when we visited Helsinki was Canal Cruise. We tried it out and had lunch included. The sightseeing tour was informative and we learned to know Helsinki from some new perspectives. But the sound quality from the speakers was not so good, and the lunch buffe had very limted choices and not the best quality.

    • The City of Prague

      IMAG0946

      Last week I had the pleasure to visit the city of Prague for the first time – and hopefully not the last!

      My three best moments in Prague;

      1. The stroll in the Old City with all its small streets with plenty of charm. You feel like your going back in time, and even if there are a lot of tourists there, you get relaxed by the atmosphere and charm. A lot of small cafés or restaurants were you can sit down and enjoy day.
      2. Lunch at Hergetova Cihelna – a setting with beautiful views, and the food were surprisingly good. It is quite a large restaurant.  We expected it to be crowded of tourists because of the location near the Charles Bridge, but it was calm. We had a great lunch experience. Want to learn more –  Restaurant Hergetova Cihelna
      3. Enjoying the view of Prague from the Strahov Monastery and Restaurant Bellavista. A 15-20-minute walk from Charles Bridge, and you are on the hightes of Prague with a stunning view. If you want to learn more – Restaurant Bellavista with the view

      Prague is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited so far. I had heard and read a lot of nice things about Prague, but to experience it myself was much better the expected.

      I stayed at The Grand Mark Prague – a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. In the last years I have been a LHW traveler, staying at one of their properties if possible. I find my memership at Leading Hotels of the World to add value to my stay with nice benefits.

      The Grand Mark had a very nice garden, with two peacocks living there as well, offering some good entertaining from time to time.

      The city had great some architecture, and all the small streets in the Old Town was so cozy and appealing.

      We were in Prague for 5 days, and the last night we wanted to have Tapas even if that is not a “Prague”-thing. But we found this perfect Tapas place, with Live Music and very good atmosphere. A very good choice if you are done with the local food. The place is called La Boca and located at Hotel Salvator. Find more inspisration here – Restaurant La Boca
